Year 8 get inspired at the University of Liverpool
Students in Year 8 were able to get a taste of what life is like at university with a trip to the University of Liverpool.
The visit began with a tour of the campus, led by current undergraduates.
Students took in the iconic sights of the red-brick colleges and sleek accommodation.
They were particularly intrigued by the impressive flight simulator machines and the on-site Combined Heat and Power Plant which recycles waste energy to supply the university with sustainable energy.
Students took full advantage of the day, asking lots of questions about university life during their tour and again at a later Q&A session hosted by Peter Doyle.
To finish the day, students attended a fascinating interactive lecture titled ‘Science is Cool’.
During the lecture, they had the chance to take part in live experiments, exploring how exposure to liquid nitrogen affects properties of living and non-living substances.
The trip was a real success in its ultimate aim of encouraging students to consider their future academic life after Laurus.
Many of them commented on how they would love to study at such a prestigious Russell Group University.
We hope this trip leaves Year 8 feeling inspired for years to come!
