A Laurus Ryecroft student has been formally recognised for her commitment to community volunteering as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Bella has been spending her Saturday mornings litter-picking with Waterloo Action, a community-led volunteer group working to improve local areas across Tameside.

As part of the volunteering section of her Duke of Edinburgh Award, she has been taking part in regular clean-up sessions, giving her time and energy to help make a positive difference in the local community.

After several weeks of volunteering, Bella’s dedication was recognised by one of Waterloo Action’s founding members, who invited Bella and her mother to Dukinfield Town Hall earlier this month.

The visit provided an opportunity to meet the Mayor and to highlight how the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award aligns closely with the values and work of community volunteer groups such as Waterloo Action.

The meeting took place in the Mayor of Tameside’s parlour alongside members of Waterloo Action.

During the visit, Bella received high praise for her commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to give back to the community, with her efforts warmly acknowledged by all involved.

This was a special opportunity for Bella, and it was wonderful to see her hard work recognised in such a meaningful way.

Laurus Ryecroft is extremely proud of her contribution and the positive example she sets through her volunteering!
