Seventeen Year 11 geographers recently returned from a memorable trip to the Bay of Naples. During the visit, they built on their Geography studies while exploring the culture and landscapes of southern Italy.

The trip began with an introduction to Italian culture, including a gelato-making experience and pizza tasting. They then travelled to Capri, taking a boat tour around the island to see its distinctive coastline and coastal landforms up close before hiking to Capri Town.

On the final day, attention turned to tectonic hazards with visits to Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii. Students were able to explore two places closely connected to their GCSE Geography studies and see the lasting effects of volcanic activity first-hand.

It was a busy few days, with plenty of walking and a packed itinerary, but the students made the most of every experience. They returned with a stronger understanding of the topics they have been studying, along with plenty of memories from their time in southern Italy!
