School Uniform

It is our policy that all students at Laurus Ryecroft wear uniform when attending school, or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours. Our policy is based on the notion that school uniform:

promotes a sense of pride in the school
engenders a sense of community and belonging towards the school
is practical and smart
identifies the students with the school
is fair and makes students feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance and removes peer pressure to dress in ‘designer’ fashions
is regarded as suitable wear for school and good value for money by most parents/carers
can assist identification of strangers on school premises
is designed with health and safety in mind

Uniform Requirements

Blazer – black, single-breasted blazer with the school badge
White shirt – long or short sleeved, with pointed collar. Shirts must be tucked in at all times
School tie
Pullover – v-necked and black
Plain black shoes – trainers and boots are not acceptable. Shoes must be practical and formal, not fashion items
Black skirt or black trousers – skirts and trousers must be practical and formal, not fashion items
- Skirts must be pleated, no shorter than knee-length and no longer than mid-calf. If students choose to wear a skirt they must wear black tights of at least 60 denier thickness. Socks are not permitted over tights
- Trousers must be tailored; neither tight nor baggy; nor excessively flared; not denim, corduroy or lycra
Black socks – with trousers
Religious headwear – must be plain black or plain white
House T-shirt – will be purchased from the school during the school term
Helmets for those students riding a bike to school
A practical bag for school, able to hold the equivalent of A4 texts books and
folders
Coats do not form part of our school uniform but in the winter months students
can wear a suitable waterproof coat outside – no other additional items should
be brought to school including gilets and hoodies

PE Kit

Black polo shirt – embroidered school crest
Black shorts or skort
Black sports socks or white ankle/trainer socks
Training shoes – pumps/Vans/Converse/Air Force footwear will not be allowed
for PE lessons
Astro Turf trainers with pimpled soles will be used for all PE activities.
‘Running’ trainers may be worn in most activities besides when sports are
played on our new 3G facility. Alternatively, students may wear moulded
studded football boots when using said space. Please note that metal studs
are strictly prohibited.
Shin pads for Football/Hockey
A mouth guard is recommended for Hockey
LR games Jersey (optional)
Black tracksuit bottoms (optional)
Black fitness leggings (optional)
