We are delighted to share that Laurus Ryecroft has been selected to take part in a major national solar energy programme, delivered through the Great British Energy Solar Partnership and supported locally by the schools climate campaign Let’s Go Zero.

As part of this exciting project, solar panels have been installed on our school building, allowing us to generate clean, renewable electricity on our own rooftops. This would be enough to power up to 30 homes for an entire year!

This will help to significantly reduce our energy bills, freeing up more of our funding to be reinvested directly into teaching, learning and student enrichment.

The programme is part of the UK Government’s wider commitment to cutting carbon emissions and supporting public services to become more sustainable.

Let’s Go Zero, which works with thousands of schools across the country, will also support us in developing practical climate action plans and encouraging positive energy‑saving behaviours across our school community.

For our students, this project is about more than just infrastructure. It is a powerful, real‑world example of climate action in practice, supporting learning about sustainability, science and our shared responsibility for the future.

We are proud to be playing our part in building a greener, more sustainable future for our school and the wider community!
