Fifty student leaders from Years 7 to 10 at Laurus Ryecroft recently visited the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester as part of the Festival of Childhood schools programme.
Run by the Children’s Commissioner and now in its second year, the festival explores the future of childhood, bringing together young people and decision-makers to discuss the issues that matter most to them.
Throughout the day, students took part in a range of engaging workshops and interactive sessions focused on childhood, society and innovation.
They demonstrated outstanding maturity, curiosity and respect, contributing thoughtfully to discussions and approaching every activity with enthusiasm.
Museum staff were highly complimentary about the group’s behaviour, noting that our students were a credit to the school. Their willingness to participate fully and share ideas confidently made the visit both productive and enjoyable.
The trip provided a valuable opportunity for our student leaders to develop their leadership skills beyond the classroom while engaging with thought-provoking themes in an inspiring setting.
We are extremely proud of how they represented the school and look forward to building on the experiences gained during the visit.
