We are thrilled to announce that Laurus Ryecroft has partnered with global engineering consultancy Mott MacDonald to bring the Design Engineer Construct (DEC) qualifications to our students. This exciting collaboration will provide our young people with unprecedented access to real-world engineering expertise and career opportunities in the built environment.
A Pathway to Future Success
The DEC Awards are innovative qualifications at level 2 and 3 that immerse students aged 11-18 in the fascinating world of architecture, engineering and construction.
Through hands-on projects, our students will design, engineer and construct extraordinary buildings and structures, gaining formal qualifications that are highly respected by leading employers and universities.
As part of this ground-breaking partnership, Mott MacDonald has made an exceptional commitment: every student who completes the DEC Award will be guaranteed an interview with the company – opening doors to potential career opportunities with one of the world’s most respected engineering firms.
Launch Day Success
The DEC programme officially launched at Laurus Ryecroft just last week, with four inspiring Mott MacDonald professionals visiting our school to share their expertise and career journeys. Students were captivated by presentations from:
- Kaitlyn, who introduced the fascinating world of nuclear safety engineering
- Brad, who explored the intricate art and science of bridge design
- Ed, who demonstrated the crucial role of structural testing in construction
- Esha, who revealed the complexities of flood management and water engineering
The enthusiasm in the room was palpable as our students discovered the diverse and exciting career paths available in the built environment sector.
Real-World Learning Opportunities
This partnership goes beyond traditional classroom learning. Mott MacDonald will provide our students with:
- access to their state-of-the-art facilities
- mentorship from experienced professionals
- real-world project experience
- industry insights and technical expertise
- direct pathways to employment opportunities
Building Tomorrow’s Engineers
The DEC programme perfectly aligns with our commitment to providing students with practical applications of STEM. Through this partnership, our students will develop not only technical skills, but also the employability and business acumen required for successful careers in the built environment.
