This week, our Year 11 Health & Social Care students proudly took part in Active Citizenship work, demonstrating exceptional community spirit and a strong sense of social responsibility.

#Helping to keep the community tidy
In a heart-warming display of goodwill, students took to the local streets to take part in a litter-picking initiative, working together to make a positive impact on their environment. Equipped with litter pickers, they collected rubbish and helped improve the appearance of the surrounding area. Their efforts not only contributed to a cleaner community but also gave students a real sense of pride and responsibility. As part of their project — and in a gesture that further embodied kindness and gratitude — students also celebrated the sweet success of this year’s honey harvest from the school’s on-site beehives. They carefully jarred the honey and delivered it as gifts to local residents, spreading joy and strengthening community connections.
Deputy Head of School, Mr Davidson, praised the students for their hard work and dedication:“Our students have truly embodied the values of Laurus Ryecroft. Their commitment to community and respect is evident in their actions this week. By taking part in this litter-picking initiative, they have shown that they care deeply about their environment and the wellbeing of our school community. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the positive example they have set for others.”
This project reflects the school’s commitment to its cornerstones, highlighting the importance of leadership, service and respect. The students’ actions are a powerful reminder of the positive impact young people can make when they come together with purpose.
As our students continue to take part in meaningful community activities, Laurus Ryecroft remains dedicated to fostering a strong sense of responsibility, empathy and citizenship — helping every student develop the character and values needed to open the door to the future of their choice.
