A total of 272 KS4 and KS5 Computer Science students from Laurus Ryecroft and other schools across the Laurus Trust took part in an engaging virtual careers event led by leading cybersecurity specialists Rootshell Security.
The session, hosted via Teams, gave students a fascinating insight into the ever-evolving world of cybersecurity and the wide range of career opportunities available in the industry. From ethical hacking and penetration testing to threat intelligence and digital forensics, students learned how varied and exciting this sector can be.
Shaun Peapall, VP of Global Threats at Rootshell Security, delivered an insightful presentation, sharing real-life experiences and stories from his work in cyber defence. He also discussed the skills, qualifications and personal qualities needed to succeed in this fast-paced and vital area of technology.
Students had the opportunity to put their questions to Shaun, gaining valuable advice about career pathways and the real-world applications of what they’re learning in class.
The Laurus Ryecroft Computing Department and students across the Trust are incredibly grateful to Shaun and the Rootshell Security team for once again giving their time to inspire our young people and help bridge the gap between education and industry.
