Aspiring Oxbridge applicants from Laurus Ryecroft Sixth Form recently had the chance to go on a free residential trip to the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge.
The residential gave students a valuable insight into life at two of the world’s most prestigious universities and included:
- A tour and Q&A session at Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge
- A walking tour of historic University of Cambridge buildings
- The opportunity to take in the sights while punting on the River Cam
- Attending an Open Day at the University of Oxford

The residential was an invaluable experience for our students, further developing their understanding of Oxbridge and allowing them to see themselves at these world-renowned universities. It has placed them in an excellent position to submit highly competitive applications.

This annual residential reflects the unapologetically aspirational ethos at the heart of our sixth form, helping students to broaden their horizons and explore future opportunities.
Mr Marsh, Oxbridge and Competitive Entry Lead, said:
“Experiences like these are crucial in providing confidence to students with their upcoming applications, and it’s a privilege to provide them. Students were engaged, curious and a credit to our sixth form throughout. I feel certain that seeing university life first-hand on this residential will feed in positively to their university and college choices in the coming months.”
Mr Mansfield, Director of Sixth Form, said:
“I am extremely proud of our students who are considering continuing their academic studies at two of the most prestigious universities. These students have been supported through our Oxbridge elective and our comprehensive Life after Laurus programme. We wish them the best of luck with their applications.”
