On Wednesday 15th November 2023, a group of Year 8 Computing students from Laurus Ryecroft were invited to University Academy 92 (UA92) for an exciting Cyber Girls event.

The event was a collaboration between Cyber Girls First, Microsoft, its partners, and UA92, a new university that aims to transform higher education and empower the next generation of leaders.

The field of cyber and technology is growing rapidly each year, yet it remains underrepresented by women.

As such, the aim of the event was to inspire and empower girls to explore the exciting opportunities and challenges that await them in the world of today and tomorrow.

The event featured guest speakers from Microsoft and other Technology companies who shared their stories and insights.

Guests told students about how they got into the industry and what a typical working day is like in their different roles.

The girls also had a chance to experience hands-on tech sessions and more.

They even got to try piloting their own drones!

Finally, the girls participated in career roundtables, where they met and networked with female role models from diverse sectors and backgrounds.

Thank you to all the organisers and attendees for inspiring our girls to consider a future in cyber!
