Before the half term break, Laurus Ryecroft proudly hosted two of the world’s most prestigious universities – the University of Oxford and Imperial College London – for inspirational presentations that left our students dreaming big.

On Tuesday 20th May, Year 10 students met Dom McGann from Corpus Christi College, Oxford, who delivered a thought-provoking session about life at one of the UK’s most historic and prestigious universities.

Dom’s message was clear: Oxford is not just for a select few. It’s a place for anyone with curiosity, ambition and academic potential – no matter their background.

Students learned about the unique collegiate system, what life is like as an Oxford student, and the wide range of career paths an Oxford degree can open up.

Later in the week, the spotlight turned to STEM as a representative from Imperial College London delivered two engaging sessions for students in Year 10 and Year 12.

Students explored the array of STEM degrees on offer and heard how Imperial graduates are making an impact in fields ranging from AI and aerospace to global business and music analytics.

Students at Laurus Ryecroft attend a session with a representative from Imperial College London.

What really brought the sessions to life were the stories of real alumni, including NHS surgeon and science communicator Dr Karan Rajan, and Akash Mehta, now a global digital leader at Christian Dior.

These examples showed students just how far a degree from a top university can take you.

These visits are part of Laurus Ryecroft’s ongoing commitment to expanding horizons and nurturing aspirations.

By bringing leading universities directly to our students, we aim to break down barriers and show students that the most competitive and exciting futures are within reach.

We’re incredibly proud of how our students engaged – asking thoughtful questions, reflecting on their goals, and leaving with the sense that anything is possible.
