At the start of this month, Alex from Snap Inc. visited Laurus Ryecroft to speak with our GCSE and A Level Computer Science students about his career journey.
Alex shared how his passion for science developed during his school years, as well as the challenges he faced growing up with dyslexia.
He spoke about the determination that helped him overcome setbacks, leading to a doctorate in Physics specialising in Photonic Biosensors and Nano‑fabrication, and ultimately to his career with Snap Inc.
Throughout the session, Alex highlighted the wide range of opportunities he has encountered in his professional journey.
He was an inspiring role model for our students, showing that there are many different routes into exciting careers and that the core values at Laurus Ryecroft closely align with the expectations at Snap Inc.
Students from Laurus Ryecroft and across the Laurus Trust posed thoughtful questions, seeking advice about careers in technology and the importance of finding pathways that suit individual strengths.
