On Thursday 14th December, Laurus Ryecroft hosted its annual Winter Wonderland music concert. The concert is one of the highlights of the year, with students from Year 7 through to Year 11 impressing audiences with their musical talents.

Winter Wonderland featured a variety of musical performances by students from different year groups, showcasing their talents and skills in singing and playing instruments.

Soul Band were the first to perform, and they set the mood with a Christmas classic; Jingle Bell Rock, before an amazing rendition of Amy Winehouse’s Valerie.

Following that, we had our first solo performance of the night as Amy beautifully sang Christmas Tree Farm by Taylor Swift.

Next, Isabella and Megan captured the room with a brilliant duet of Someone like You before we heard a traditional steel pan arrangement from the talented Steel Pan Band.

Two more solos took to the stage with some festive favourites, as Lewis performed I believe in Father Christmas, and Isabella returned with Santa Tell Me.

The Gospel Choir had everyone bopping with You to Me are Everything and Up Above My Head, then Nowella treated us to another solo with Underneath the Christmas Tree.

After that, we enjoyed another merry performance from the Steel Pan Band with Winter Wonderland.

Closing the first half of the evening with another spectacular performance, Year 11 impressed with Indolce Dubilo.

The Brass Ensemble and soloist, Alfie, kept everyone entertained as they enjoyed refreshments through the interval, kindly prepared by our Food & Nutrition team.

The concert resumed with another great piece from Steel Pan Band who played Silent Night.

Next up, we heard from the Concert Band and the Gospel Choir, with each group dazzling us with their own separate performances before joining together to perform an amazing arrangement of Rocking around the Christmas Tree!

We were treated to more wonderful singing from the brilliant Senior Voices, and even more outstanding solos from Blake and Isabella.

Soul Band brought the energy with some jazzy numbers including Say a Little Prayer, then the Staff Steel Pan Band gave a jolly rendition of Jingle Bells.

Bringing the evening to a close, the Soul Band played Respect by Aretha Franklin before everyone joined together (including the audience!) for the grand finale of Step Into Christmas, ending the concert on a high note.

This year’s Winter Wonderland was an unforgettable evening full of entertainment.

A huge congratulations and well done to all our students and staff who made the concert such a success – we were blown away by the level of musical talent on display!

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us in this lovely celebration and hope you enjoyed the evening.
